Birth Doula Support

We are expecting our third babe February 2015 and I will not be taking on any doula clients for a while. If you would like any recommendations please feel free to contact me.

Supporting a pregnant person and their family throughout pregnancy and birth is a sacred experience and I am honoured to attend births as a doula. I have been attending births since 2011 and each one has taught me something new.

I believe that birth is parent centered and that the role of anyone attending a person's birth is to support them in whatever manner they choose and need. I trust birth and believe that parents have the right to make the best informed decisions for their care.

What my services include:

  • A free consultation so that you can meet and interview me to determine if I am the right fit for you!
  • Unlimited phone & email support throughout your pregnancy
  • 2 prenatal visits, two hours each
  • Free copy of my favorite birth movie DVD, Birth with Gloria Lemay
  • On call starting at 37 weeks until your birth
  • Unwavering support throughout your birthing time and up to 2 hours postpartum
  • 1 postpartum follow up
  • Unlimited phone & email support for one month postpartum

My fee is $995 with the the use of my Aquaborn Birth Pool (including set-up, tear down and supplies) for those planning a home birth. Please contact me for package details with Placenta Encapsulation Services.

I have completed doula training and have taken a Neonatal Resuscitation course.

Studies have shown that having a Doula present at birth results in:

  • 50% reduction in Cesarean birth rates
  • 25% shorter labour
  • 60% reduction in epidural requests
  • 40% reduction in Oxytocin use
  • 30% reduction in Analgesia use
  • 40% reduction in forceps or vacuum deliveries

Parents who have used a doula at birth are more satisfied with their births, feel more confident before and after the birth, show a quicker rate of bonding with their newborn, are less likely to have post-partum depression, and more likely to breastfeed.

Doulas offer informational, physical, emotional and environmental support as well as support for the birth partner.
