Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the answers to some common questions about Birth at Home prenatal classes. Please feel free to contact me if you have a question that this page doesn’t answer!

At what point in my pregnancy should I be enrolled in class?

Any time. We typically have a range of students in our class of a wide variety of gestational ages. In a lot of ways earlier is better as you have more time to soak in and reflect on everything you learned.

Do second (or third, fourth, plus) – time parents take your course?

Yes! We love having experienced parents in the class, and we have received amazing feedback about how much they love the class!

Do I need to take another prenatal class in addition to this home birth course?

Nope! This is a complete course, and will cover everything you need to know to feel prepared to give birth! The fact that it speaks specifically to your plans to home birth and will cover things like reasons for hospital transfer / what that looks like, and info on preparing your house for the birth are all in addition to general childbirth information

What if I’m still on the fence between home birth and hospital birth? I want to have my options open.

This is still the perfect class for you. Because we will be covering the need-to-knows of hospital birth as described above, you will still be well-prepared for your birth even if you ultimately decide to plan on birthing in the hospital.

What if something changes in my pregnancy and home birth no longer feels like the right choice for me?

We will be going over the need-to-knows of hospital birth so people who decide to transfer to the hospital or for whom something comes up in their pregnancy that makes them change to a hospital birth plan will be well prepared. Even if you ultimately decide to hospital birth, you will be well prepared and informed after taking our class.
